Reassurance on the future of the Bridgewater
The Bridgewater Canal Company has acted swiftly to reassure waterways enthusiasts about the future of the canal, following the breach at the Dunham Embankment on New Year's Day.
Peter Parkinson, managing director of the Bridgewater Canal Company, says the long-term future of the canal is safe.
“We fully intend to repair the breach, and investigations have begun into methods and timescales,” he told WW. “Emergency dams have restored water levels and refloated all affected boats, and we are supporting boaters. In the meantime the company is looking at assisting passages…
